LEGAL REVIEW REQUIRED. This is a draft that describes how Huddle works today. It has not been reviewed by an attorney and is not yet in force.
Version 0.2 · Not yet in effect · Updated 2026-10-30
Huddle is built for TVs, phones and tablets, in bright and noisy rooms. We want everyone to be able to play.
Our standard
Huddle's benchmark is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We design to it and test our TV, phone, host and account pages against it with automated checks and manual review. This is a goal, not a certification: we haven't had an independent audit.
What we do
- Readable by design: large type on TVs, high contrast, and no reliance on color alone for right and wrong answers.
- Touch friendly: answer buttons are large and one tap locks an answer.
- Keyboard and screen reader support: pages use headings, labels and landmarks, and a "skip to content" link. Dynamic updates are announced where we can.
- Reduced motion: animations respect the device's reduced-motion setting.
- Branding checks: Huddle checks a venue's logo and color for readable contrast.
- Images and media: creators are asked to add alt text. Audio clues play on the TV, so a host can use Phones only or skip audio questions for rooms that need it.
- Study mode slows pacing and gives longer reveals.
Known gaps
Our WCAG 2.1 AA testing is ongoing and automated checks can't catch everything. Timed play can be hard for some players, and some audio-only clues don't have a text alternative. Hosts can pause, add time (+10s) and choose Study or Practice test modes. [CONFORMANCE CLAIM: none made. A conformance statement waits for an independent audit and counsel.]
