Competition rules
LEGAL REVIEW REQUIRED. This is a draft that describes how Huddle works today. It has not been reviewed by an attorney and is not yet in force.
Version 0.5 · Not yet in effect · Updated 2026-10-24
Remote and Hybrid participation
Remote and Hybrid change where players see the game, not its scoring. Only a team's current approved captain may submit answers and game decisions. The host may reassign that role to a connected teammate; an accepted answer stays locked and counts once. Other members follow the same game. The beta supports Classic, Competitive, Survivor, Study, Practice test and The Big Reveal, including existing Huddle Moments where the ruleset permits them. Competitive uses server receipt time for speed scoring and deadlines; network latency counts and is not compensated. Competitive locks joining at start. Survivor closes new teams at start; eliminated teams remain spectators, including after reconnect or captain reassignment. Remote/Hybrid content is text and images only, without audio/video media or calls. Hosts may approve joins, close joining, remove players and mute curated reactions. Names are unverified and team membership is not proof of a person's identity.
These rules apply to Competitive mode, The Big Reveal where enabled, and Venue vs. Venue matches. They are part of the Terms.
The Big Reveal (where enabled)
Teams answer ten questions before answers and scores are revealed. The first accepted answer is final; the server closes each question at its deadline or the host's lock. A correct answer earns 1,000 points, with no speed bonus. A team may commit one optional Double Down token before submission: correct earns 2,000 points; incorrect or missing earns zero. The token has no monetary value. Equal final scores share the win. The host cannot manually change scores in this mode. See Game types and rules.
Fair play
- One phone is one team. Don't run several teams to influence a result.
- Don't use outside help, or share answers between teams, during a question.
- Don't try to tamper with the game, phones or scoring. Scoring is on the server.
- Hosts may warn, rename or remove a team. A host's score corrections are visible to the room.
- Respect the room. The Content Guidelines apply to team names.
Venue vs. Venue
- Both venues play the same questions at the same time.
- A venue's score is the average of its top five teams.
- Hosts can't skip questions in a match. Late joining isn't available once it starts.
- The match record, report and rivalry history are kept by Huddle.
- An organization Owner challenges, accepts and manages matches for the venue.
Prizes and promotions
Huddle doesn't offer prizes, bets or sweepstakes. A venue may use Venue Prizes to show prizes it provides, before and after a game. Huddle shows the venue's prizes and the game's own final standings and does nothing else: prizes never change scoring, and Huddle doesn't decide who is legally eligible.
The venue is responsible for its prizes, including their accuracy, availability, eligibility, redemption, applicable laws (including those on gambling, alcohol, age, taxes, promotions and sweepstakes), required terms, sponsor authorization, and the images and logos it uploads. Huddle doesn't supply, fulfil or guarantee prizes or their redemption, and doesn't sponsor a venue's promotion. Ask the venue about prize details.
Players: a prize is between you and the venue. Prizes aren't shown for study sessions, practice tests or Venue vs. Venue matches. [PRIZES AND PROMOTIONS POLICY: LEGAL REVIEW REQUIRED before Venue Prizes launches in production. Counsel to settle eligibility, no-purchase, age, alcohol and sweepstakes wording.]
Disputes
The host decides in the room. Matches are reviewed by Huddle only for clear rule or technical breaches, and Huddle's decision on a match result is final to the extent the law allows.
