Huddle content ratings

A Huddle rating tells you who a trivia pack is suited to, so you can pick the right game for the room.
The four ratings
| Rating | What it means |
|---|---|
| All Ages | Suitable for general and family audiences |
| 10+ | Older children and general audiences; mild material only |
| 13+ | Teen audiences; limited mature references |
| 17+ | Mature audiences; stronger, non-explicit themes |
A pack also lists what it contains, such as Alcohol references, Mild language or Violence references. A reference in a history or science question is not treated the same as encouragement or an explicit scene.
Some content is not allowed on Huddle at any rating. A higher rating never makes that content acceptable.
Where you see them
- Discover shows the rating on every pack card and on the pack page. "Not yet rated" means no rating applies to the pack's current content; it does not mean All Ages. "Pending review" means the pack has a rating that a reviewer has not confirmed yet.
- Filters in Discover let customers limit results to a Huddle rating or lower and hide content they do not want, such as alcohol references. Signed-in venues with content-policy controls may see a stricter maximum.
- Family friendly appears only on packs with an approved All Ages rating.
How a rating is set
- Huddle checks every question, answer, explanation and picture caption, plus the title and description. A single mature question raises the rating of the whole pack, even in a large random pool.
- Anything sensitive, unclear or high-rated goes to a reviewer. Reviewers approve a rating and add a note.
- Public and private packs are both checked.
Editing a question, answer, explanation, title or picture means the new version needs to be checked again before it is approved.
If you make packs
When ratings are available for your Huddle, the Pack check tab shows your pack's rating, what was flagged and which questions to edit.
- Check rating again after you edit.
- Ask for a higher rating if you want a stricter label. You can raise a rating but not lower it.
- Appeal if you think a rating is wrong. A reviewer reads your reason and replies on the same page.
- The Intended rating field under Pack details lets you ask for a higher rating when you save.
Packs with content that is not allowed on Huddle cannot be published until you edit the flagged questions.
My trivia packs also lists your published packs that are not rated yet, are waiting for a review or are blocked, the date unrated packs start being blocked, and the answer to any appeal for two weeks.
If you manage a venue
When your Huddle has the content policy turned on, an owner or manager can open Settings › Content policy to choose:
- the highest rating your venue will host (a new venue starts at All Ages);
- content to never host, such as alcohol references;
- whether to allow with a warning or block packs that are not rated yet or are waiting for a review, with an optional date to start blocking them.
Discover hides packs your policy does not allow. Starting a game is refused only once Huddle has turned enforcement on for your venue; until then Huddle records what it would have blocked and the game starts. A refused start says why and suggests packs you can host instead. Packs with content that is not allowed on Huddle are always refused.
A game already running is never interrupted by a policy change.
